Lee Hyun-Soo

Abstract
Written by Jeongryeom(1506¢¦1549), an author in the middle of age of Chosun, ¡®Yong Ho Bi Kyeol¡¯ is discipline book of Kigong(ѨÍí) mainly on Naedan(Ki generated in the physical body). As a real guidebook and textbook on discipline mind and body written by Korean, it clearly shows the essence and cardinal point of discipline though its content is simpler than that of any other book written thus far. Explaining discipline in 3 stages, i.e. Peki(øÍѨ), Jucheonwhahoo(ñ²ô¸ûýý¥) and Taesik(÷ÃãÓ) as the most fundamental instruction of breathing. The true value of ¡®Yong Ho Bi Kyeol¡¯ lies in this Peki. Therefore, the most important essence and cardinal point of discipline is to correctly understand and train it. Jeongryeom said that he wrote ¡®Yong Ho Bi Kyeol¡¯ to present easy and simple way for discipline, because books on discipline and the discipline method were difficult. Since the current situation and letters are different from those in that age, however, it is not easy to interpret the contents, notwithstanding its easiness and brevity. The original instruction may differ, depending on understanding the realization of Master Bukchang through discipline and understanding it only by interpreting letters. Based on the experience of recovering health after discipline for longer than 10 years and sharing the realization to recover and enhance health of neighbors, this study aims to lead to correctly understand and practice wise instruction of ancient sages by researching the most important Peki and right methodology of discipline for discipline in each stage.
